Moving the world

Without the products and services of the Volvo Group there can be no modern society like we know it.  Like a blood flow, our trucks, buses, engines, construction equipment and air craft components are involved in many of the functions that most of us rely on every day.

For instance, one in seven meals eaten in Europe reaches the consumers thanks to trucks from the Volvo Group rolling the roads of the continent. Not to mention all other goods that relies on trucks to reach their destination.

Buses are the most common type of public transportations in the world, helping many people to reach work, holidays, friends and family. And if all the Volvo buses in the world were to start at the same time, they would transport more than 10 million people.

Most of us want to be able to fly far away sometime, either at work or to discover a new part of the world. In 2009, Volvo Aero delivered components to over 90 percent of all civilian large air craft engines.

And how often do you think about where the electricity comes from? Many countries have a fully functional power system, those who don’t need industrial engines, like those from Volvo Penta, making sure that hospitals and airports, among others, have a secure electrical supply.

Every year, the population on earth produces billions of tons of garbage and waste. Only in the US, the 2 million tons of garbage removed by garbage trucks from the Volvo Group every week could form a line of filled-up garbage cans and reach the moon.

These are just a few examples. In this section, you can learn more about the importance of the Volvo Group in every day life.  How we are the blood flow of modern society, moving the world. Latest stories
