See and Be Seen

A global campaign for traffic safety

See and Be Seen

Safety in all that we do

Every year, road accidents destroy many lives. Too many of these accidents involve trucks and buses. And according to research, things aren’t about to get any better.

Safety has been a Volvo Group priority ever since we began. We have a clear safety vision; no Volvo Group products should be involved in a traffic accident.

This is why, in addition to developing many innovative safety features for our products, we also work on all other aspects of safety. We want to make a positive difference to the statistics.

It’s vital to See and be seen

Our ‘See and be seen’ initiative focuses on awareness in traffic. Most accidents are due to human factors such as lack of attention, poor understanding and misjudgement.

‘See and be seen’ features activities that demonstrate how to improve safety in the interaction between cyclists and drivers.

A global campaign to keep cyclists safer

The inspirational ‘See and be seen’ kit focuses on cyclists in traffic and consists of an Instructor’s Guide and a PowerPoint presentation with interactive stories. There is also a guide on how to implement an outdoor exercise involving a truck. With its easy-to-use-format, the kit is designed to help parents, teachers, organisations and authorities to educate people through fun interaction and exercise forms.

Traffic safety

Safety is part of our soul. It has been at the heart of what we do since the Volvo Group was founded almost 90 years and it is an equally vital part of our future. Our Safety vision is zero accidents with Volvo Group products. We work systematically and rigorously on our own and in collaboration with other key stakeholders in society.

Stop Look Wave

Stop Look Wave

Every year, more than 260,000 young people under the age of 19 die in traffic accidents according to the World Health Organization. In many parts of the world children do not have access to proper training or advice on how to behave safely in traffic. This is where campaigns such as Volvo Group’s Stop Look Wave program enter the picture.
