The first mission of the Volvo Group photo contest Foap “I love water” was a tremendous success.

The story behind the photo
The photo was taken at Peterhof Palace one of St. Petersburg's most famous and popular visitor attractions. One of the many fountains of the surrounding park is magical for kids playing around. A mysterious button hidden behind a bench, triggers the waterfalls and is known as a popular trick.

“I like those special moments, when kids are filled with wonder and time is suspended. You can really feel a special atmosphere at this place. I know it very well, myself when I was a child I particularly enjoyed playing under that fountain. I am happy to share this feeling through that picture today!” shares Elena.

A passion for sailing
Elena has been following the Volvo Ocean Race at the time it was still the Whitbread Round the World Race and has participated in local races herself. “I like sailing because it gives me strong emotions. The Volvo Ocean Race is not just a sport competition; it is so also about people, teamwork and emotions. I have a lot of admiration for sailors who will put their life on the line for the next 9 months.”

Caring for the Ocean Health
Sustainability and environmental education are at the heart of Elena’s daily life. With simple habits she contributes in her own way. “Ocean and planet health are strongly linked to our own health. I like to think that one day people will take care of their own planet as they look after themselves and their home. The messages voiced by Clean Seas to turn the tide on plastic are really important to me and need to be heard by all.”
