Connecting Europe Facility: the Volvo Group among first signatories of EU Commission's declaration

The President & CEO of the Volvo Group, Olof Persson, signed an EU Commission's declaration to support the creation of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

The creation of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) will co-finance major transport, energy and telecommunications infrastructure from 2014. The declaration asks the heads of state and government to work out an agreement on the next multiannual financial framework (MFF) and to support the European Commission's proposal to allocate €50 billion to the CEF for 2014-2020. Other CEOs of large European companies also signed the declaration, namely Ericsson, DANONE, Pirelli and many more. “We need to invest seriously in European networks and this will not be achieved without pan-European investments from the EU budget (…) At a time when the global marketplace is becoming ever more competitive, Europe simply cannot afford to delay investments in its infrastructure” say signatories of the declaration.
