What is your current position in the Volvo Group?
I am a Project manager at Volvo Group Trucks Technology vehicle architecture. I coordinate all the engineering output from a project, I make sure things happen and the job gets done.
Why did you choose Volvo Group as an employer?
When I studied mechanical engineering, I knew I wanted to work in the automotive industry. As Volvo US headquarters are in the same state where I lived I contacted them. Then I got selected for the International graduate program, which was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down! Volvo has matched my every expectation. I have had a very good time at Volvo and I have been very successful this far. I understand the company and the company core values are in tune with my own values.
How has your Volvo career been this far?
I started with the trainee program in May 2008. My first job was as an associate engineer. From there I moved to being a project leader and now I am a project manager. All the jobs have been within Volvo Group Trucks Technology, and it has been a very positive experience.
Do you get any professional or personal coaching from Volvo?
I have several people around me that I consider my mentors. This is one of my favorite things about Volvo. I have the possibility to discuss almost anything openly with colleagues and managers, and there is a genuine sense of support for my career and future.
Have you been involved in any global projects in the Volvo Group?
In the graduate program I worked as a project leader coordinating with people literally all over the world. The project was very successful and a priceless experience in global management.
If you were to recommend Volvo Group as an employer to a friend, what would you put forward?
The opportunity for a diverse working atmosphere is unmatched by any other company in the US. I hear people speaking in Swedish, Portuguese, French and many other languages all the time, and I love that! The opportunity for personal and professional growth is huge in such a diverse environment.
