1. Tell us how you came to apply for an internship within the Volvo Group
Since I moved to Asheville, I have been researching and looking for job opportunities with Volvo CE (headquarter). Volvo is known as an international, dynamic and high value driven company all over the world. It is such great news that Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) signed an agreement to make an equity investment in Lingong, China-my home country. Volvo CE is the most recognized multinational company in my current town - Asheville and it is one of largest sponsors of my university: UNC Asheville. Volvo CE has been helping greatly with our graduates' careers, sponsoring students to fulfill their education goals and assisting university's development. It was my great pleasure to Mr. Wood, who reflected the wonderfulness and open mindedness of the Volvo Group. I truly feel that the Volvo Group would be an ideal place for employment.
2. In which country/organization/entity are you situated?
I have been working for Volvo Construction Equipment North America-Rents since May 2007 on the Rental Management System project as a Financial Operation Specialist.
3. Tell us about your role and major assignments?
Working as a Financial Operation Specialist intern, my major assignment is assisting in the analysis of financial data and defining relevant information; interpreting data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and implement and support a continuous auditing function, participate in new software development and testing.
4. How would you describe the culture of Volvo Group?
While many people are more cynical about business, Volvo seeks to earn a high level of trust every day, employee by employee. Volvo employees work hard to uphold the highest standards of ethical business conduct. They seek to go beyond simply obeying the law-they embrace the spirit of integrity. They are very honest, very caring, and open minded in all their Volvo activities and relationships. They foster an atmosphere in which fair employment practices extend to every member of the diverse Volvo community. Volvo is one of the most diverse corporations. It has been expanding its business to all over the world - Europe, Asia, North America, South America, etc.
5. Based on your own experience, why do you think someone should consider working for a Volvo Group Company?
Volvo offers so much to employees: lots of opportunities for growth, lots of diversity, and lots of exposure to new technologies. What I like best of all is that you get to work on your own and develop your ideas. People here listen to what you have to say and let you take your own initiative. At the same time, you're part of a great team that provides support when you need it and keeps you involved in everything that's going on. I am looking forward to becoming a member of Young Professional Program in 2008 which will give me opportunities to gain international working life experience and to apply my learning in a recognized, international, dynamic and high value driven company.
