Thesis work in Sweden

Approach
If you would like to write your thesis on a company within the Volvo Group in Sweden, there
are three different approaches:

• Do you have your own suggestion for a thesis? Then please contact the person responsible for students at the relevant company and put forward a proposal of your idea. The contact person’s details can be obtained from us. If you choose this option, it is important that you describe your proposal as clearly and concisely as possible.

We also want you to visit our website, "About us", and learn more about our different Business Areas and Business Units. This will help you to determine at which company you would prefer to carry out your thesis.
Note that since 1999 Volvo Car Corporation is owned by another company and is no longer a part of Volvo Group.

Once you've decided which company and area you wish to write your thesis at, please contact us. Please ensure that your request is sent in in good time.  An answer will take approximately two months.

• Through contacts with managers at Volvo your college / university receives suggestions on thesis projects which your school may appoint. 

Note these terms only apply to theses that are written in Sweden. If you want information about the conditions which apply outside Sweden, please directly contact the respective Volvo company in the country you are interested in.

Location
The thesis can be conducted at the Volvo Company on site and/or at the collage/university. This is an agreement between the supervisor and student.

Agreement
An agreement between the Volvo Company and the student must be drawn up and signed before the formal commencement of work.

Compensation
Volvo Group will pay a fee in accordance with the market value for a completed thesis which is approved by both the university/college and the company.

Final Report
When the final report is complete, two copies should be sent to the Volvo supervisor. 

Security control
Some of the Volvo Group entities, primarily Volvo Aero, require a security check of the student. This is because the company works in close collaboration with the Swedish Air Force. In these cases, the student must be a Swedish citizen.
