From climate change to air pollution to the overfishing of the oceans, our planet today faces many serious challenges. The Volvo Environmental Prize is awarded each year to encourage and reward research into these and other pressing environmental issues.
First presented in 1990, the prize has become one of the world’s most prestigious environmental awards. It has been bestowed on many well-known researchers in fields such as marine ecosystems, climate change and environmental economics. Among the 36 prize winners to date, three have also been awarded the Nobel Prize.
