Volvo has acquired a further 4,754,285 B shares in Scania. The shares have been acquired at a price of SEK 310 per share.

Federal Auto Industries, the Volvo Truck importer in Malaysia has received an order for 110 FM10 6X2 tractor units from Kontena National. Kontena National is the premier container transport company in Malaysia and operates some 400 Volvo trucks, which represents 70 percent of their fleet.

Volvo has acquired a further 1,536,980 B shares in Scania. The shares have been acquired at a price of SEK 310 per share.

Volvo Trucks' deliveries up to July 1999 recorded a total of 48,641 units.

First six months

At China's first vehicle trade fair, the Auto Shanghai '99 Exhibition, Volvo Trucks took 45 orders for its new model FM12, which was launched at the exhibition.

Volvo Penta has now commenced construction work on a plant for assembling and distribution of diesel engines and generator sets in Wuxi, China. Volvo Penta will account for 70 percent of the USD 9 M in the joint-venture investment and Wuxi Diesel Engine Works for the balance. A further USD 1 M will be invested in technician training programs and the transfer of management know-how.
