As a result of Nissan Diesel’s current President, Iwao Nakamura, retiring at mid-year 2007, Satoru Takeuchi will replace him as a member of Volvo’s Group Executive Committee. Satoru Takeuchi will also succeed Iwao Nakamura as President of Nissan Diesel.

The first quarter saw continued high demand for the Group’s products and services. We also made strategically significant acquisitions that will strengthen our positions in key markets and product areas.

The markets in Eastern Europe have been growing rapidly for the Volvo Group and sales in the region increased by nearly 40 percent during 2006. To further strengthen the position in Eastern Europe and meet increased transport and infrastructure needs, Volvo Group is continuing to invest in the region. Tomorrow, Friday May 11, Volvo Group is opening a new Volvo Center in Mlochów, Poland. The multifunctional center will cover different Volvo activities operated by Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Buses and Volvo Financial Services.

The Volvo FH has won the 2007 Fleet Vehicle Award in the Fleet Awards Polska Trucks category in a ceremony held recently in Warsaw. The award was organised by two fleet and transport publications in Poland, ‘Flota’ and ‘Samochody Uzytkowe’, in cooperation with the Fleet Management Institute of Central and Eastern Europe.

Today, April 30, 2007, Volvo concluded the acquisition of US based Ingersoll Rand’s road development equipment division, other than operations in India which will follow shortly. The division will be consolidated in the Volvo Group from May 1, 2007. The transaction was initially announced on February 27, 2007.

International transport and haulage company Transdanubia has chosen the latest version of Dynafleet, Volvo’s transport information system, for its 350 trucks. Over the next three years the company will replace its existing system with the new Dynafleet “Operate” package.

Volvo Trucks is widening its engine range with the launch of a D13 engine featuring EGR exhaust gas recirculation. The engine is available in four power output levels and is certified for current emission requirements according to Euro 4 – but without after-treatment of exhaust gases. Volvo is the first truck manufacturer in the world with this solution.

Volvo Trucks has launched close cooperation with Goodyear on delivery of self-repairing tyres for construction trucks. Goodyear’s tyres with Duraseal technology automatically seal the damage – permanently. Volvo is the first truck manufacturer in Europe to offer tyres of this sort.

The Volvo Group is investing a total of SEK 935 M in an assembly facility for trucks in Russia. The investment is being made to meet increasing demand on the fast-growing markets in Russia and the former countries in the Soviet Union. The new facility will have a capacity of 10,000 Volvo trucks and 5,000 Renault trucks per year.
