AB Volvo’s subsidiary Renault Trucks is continuing its light commercial vehicle cooperation with Renault with the launch of a new generation of the Renault Master. The new Renault Master will be sold through the Renault Trucks dealer network in Europe.

Volvo Trucks has been selected as a preferred supplier to global logistics company Deutsche Post DHL. The companies have entered a frame agreement, which potentially includes the delivery of 1,800 trucks for the coming two years.

Volvo Trucks has signed an agreement to deliver trucks to Derba Cement in Ethiopia. The customer is aiming to buy approximately 1000 trucks and an order has been placed for 550 trucks to be delivered during 2010.

Louis Schweitzer, following a request from the Board of Directors, has agreed to take over as the Chairman of Volvo’s Board for the period until the next Annual General Meeting. This change is taking place as Finn Johnsson has informed the Board of his intention to resign as Chairman.

Volvo Buses has been named the winner of the Swedish Traffic Safety Award 2010. The company was awarded the prize for its work on an alcolock specially adapted for buses.

The operator company Nettbuss has ordered 12 hybrid buses from Volvo Buses for service in Norway, thereby becoming the first company in the Nordic region to implement the hybrid technology commercially. Hybrid buses reduce fuel consumption by as much as 30%.
