Most people probably agree that a diverse workplace is more stimulating and interesting than a uniform one. But the main reason why Volvo Group has made diversity a strategic goal is the strong business case.

For an international group with global operations, it is essential that the organization actively reflects its customers and understands, for example, local market conditions, different cultures and future employee requirements.

Recognized diversity initiatives and diversity results will also attract the best and the brightest employees to a company. 

Our policy
The Volvo Group Code of Conduct clearly states that:

"The Volvo Group hires and treats its employees in a manner that does not discriminate with regard to gender, race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, political opinion, union affiliation, social or ethnic origin. Workplace diversity at all levels is encouraged."
 

Seeking multifaceted leadership
We need increased gender diversity in the Volvo Group, not least because a more multifaceted leadership will develop our company in a more progressive direction.

Diversity programs and tools
The Volvo Group has deployed several programs and tools aimed at increasing diversity. Examples include:

  • The "Diversity and Inclusive Leadership" program, is aimed at increasing the awareness of diversity issues and the challenges involved
  • "Globesmart", an interactive web-based training program that helps Volvo Group employees to develop their skills in conducting business in other countries
  • A diversity game that introduces various aspects of diversity and shows Group executives how diversity contributes to business success

A number of local projects are currently in progress in this area.
