The Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra - Göteborgs Symfoniker
Volvo has been the main sponsor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra (Göteborgs Symfoniker) for many years. The orchestra was founded in 1905 and today it counts 109 musicians.
In 1997 the orchestra was appointed The National Orchestra of Sweden and today it is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost in Europe.

Principal Conductors
The young conductor Gustavo Dudamel from Venezuela is the Principal Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra since 2007.

Mario Venzago was the Principal Conductor between 2004 and 2007, and Neeme Järvi directed the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra from 1982 to 2004 and is working with the Orchestra as Principal Conductor Emeritus.
