The game provides an interactive brand experience showcasing the company’s proven leadership in fuel efficiency and innovation. The launch of Fueldrop coincides with the beginning of an online scavenger hunt for U.S. participants centered around Volvo’s “Proven” message highlighting the company’s past and present.

Fueldrop Game for iPad
The object of the mobile game is to make the most out of every drop of fuel throughout each level. Volvo Trucks engineers contributed their expertise to help integrate engine-inspired components and incorporate hot, cold and wet elements, all of which pose real-life challenges to engines.

Online Scavenger Hunt
Within the Fueldrop game are clues, which the player can use to find additional clues embedded within Volvo Trucks’ Facebook page, Twitter feed, U.S. website, videos, ads and archived issues of Driver’s Digest, Volvo Trucks’ North American customer magazine. These clues eventually lead to prizes – eight iPads, which will be awarded during the course of 16 weeks. Every two weeks, a participant who has found the clues needed to complete a phrase will be randomly drawn to receive an iPad.
Volvo’s Fuel Efficiency Leadership
Volvo Trucks has continued to propel its fuel efficiency leadership in recent years through a variety of powertrain and aerodynamic design enhancements.
The introduction of advanced aerodynamic components – redesigned mirror heads with aerodynamic shrouds and arms, redesigned hood mirrors that also increase visibility and
additional ground effect features below the bumper and side fairings – for Volvo VN model highway trucks further improved the already efficient truck design.
In addition to fuel efficiency improvements of up to 5 percent or more with the introduction of EPA ’10 engines with SCR technology, Volvo Trucks delivers additional fuel efficiency through its XE – exceptional efficiency – powertrain package. Available on Volvo-powered VN highway tractors, the XE package boosts fuel efficiency by about three percent by lowering engine rpm at a given vehicle speed, a concept Volvo calls “downspeeding.” Possible through the combination of Volvo’s I-Shift automated manual transmission and a Volvo engine with modified software, XE allows the engine to cruise about 200 rpm less than the average truck sold today.
