The ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) World Congress is organised every year by ERTICO, a public-private partnership organisation linked to the transport industry and the EU.
The congress alternates between Europe, North America and Asia and this was the 16th time it had been held. The host on this occasion was Sweden and Stockholm. The Volvo Group has taken part in all the ITS congresses and, this year, it was one of the main sponsors.
“Intelligent transport systems are an extremely import ant research and development area for the Volvo Group. It is vital that we take part in this congress and present ourselves and our know-how. It gives us an opportunity to create new ties and strengthen our international partnerships. In the long term, we are also hoping to be able to increase the sale of soft products,” explains Mats Rosenquist at Volvo Technology, who coordinated the Group’s participation in the congress.

Outside the congress halls, visitors were also able to test-drive Volvo and Renault trucks equipped with every conceivable kind of technology for improving the driver’s working area and promoting safer driving.
