Kitting in assembly

Background of thesis project:
Since Volvo GTOs shift towards electromobility means new products will be introduced with a narrow timesplan than usual which gives higher demands on flexibility and efficient production. One solution to meet this demand in kitting material to the assembly lines. However, there are several possibilites to make our kitting proccesses more flexible and more efficient.
Description of thesis work:
Evaluate the current kitting processes - Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for potential improvements
Process Optimization - Evaluating the layout, way of working and inventory management. Is it possible to reduce operators in main flow by introducing kitting?
Inventory management and lean principles - Establish an effective inventory mangement strategy to minimize the waste and ensure just-in-time availability for kitting
Digital tools and automation - To streamline kitting operations and reduce the potential of human error
Handling of rejects - When a reject occurs in the assembly how should the kit of the rejected order be handled?
