Data visualization of real-time E2E data
An important part of the digitalization is data visualization with the purpose of transparence, easy access, sharing and real-time E2E status.
In a complex environment visualizations are even more important to be able to take the right decisions and actions.
To gain full leverage, data visualizations needs to be easy accessible and available for everyone that can benefit from it.
To be able to be proactive, data needs to be real-time data.
To give the true view, the data need to reflect the E2E perspective.
Working towards SML’s goal of being the world’s most truly sustainable service provider, delivering uptime through sustainable logistics offers and value driven performance we seek the help of Master Thesis student(s) during a 6 month period of time.
Thesis questions and expected deliverables:
Q1: Perform external benchmarks regarding how real-time E2E data is used to visualize status of the operations from our and other industries.
Expected deliverable: Propose and show examples of suitable and state-of-the-art ways to visualize real-time E2E data.
Q2: Investigate what use cases that are suitable to visualize within Service Market Logistics. Investigate what data that can be used to visualize the real-time E2E perspective in a user friendly way. The data can both be the E2E data points as well as the data points building the E2E perspective.
Expected deliverable: Dataset that can be used to build and visualize the real-time E2E perspective.
Q3: Investigate suitable platforms (e.g. APP, dashboard, website) for the visualization from different perspective e.g. feasibility, accessibility. Implement different visualizations reflecting different use cases and platforms. Validate together with the target users the different alternatives and evolve the alternatives in an iterative way.
Expected deliverable: Implemented and validated visualizations on selected platforms.
We are looking for student(s) with knowledge and passion for answering data visualization questions in supply chain management. To be able to demonstrate the result, programming skills to some extent is needed.
In order to fulfill expectations, ability to drive activities and collaborate with colleagues within Service Market Logistics is needed.
Communication skills as well as the ability to analyze and interpret findings will be important factors as well as having a holistic mindset looking at the overall value in the supply chain.
