Data scientist trainee master's degree (H/F)

Volvo trucks group is developing Big Data analysis and is investigating the possibility to hire a Data scientist trainee.
Mission :
We are looking for an internship candidate who wants to take parts of supply chain data optimization through data analysis. Truck Dealers data, Vehicle data, … System setup are our leverages to add value to the aftermarket business.
You will work at Group Trucks Operations (GTO), Service Market Logistics (SML), in charge of the aftermarket supply chain activities. Inside the Supply Chain Optimization (SCO), the mission of the Advanced Analytics team is to provide expertise in supply chain optimization.
We would like the trainee to provide an advanced support on analytics tools as well as an active contribution to our exploration portfolio:
  • Improve supply chain Total Cost model
The department is using an optimizer tool constructed with Python language and based on a Total cost model. It models the current supply chain setup and can simulate different scenario evaluated with the cost model. This tool has several users and has room for improvement. We would like the candidate to:
  1. Analyze suggested change or propose own change of the current model.
  2. Develop changes.
  3. Documentation according to the changes provided.
  • Take part of the department exploration journey by leading / participation in one of our exploration project :
    • Machine Learning workshop, deep learning, neural network
    • Advanced Software Robotic Automation
    • Connected vehicle project
We expect the internship to be able to develop an idea and provide tangible results that should demonstrate how valuable are the use of data to improve the supply chain.
Required skills:
  • Fluent English spoken and written
  • Supply chain understanding
  • Gradient descend analysis
  • Python programming language and pandas (data analysis) library
  • R
  • Innovative mindset
  • Ability to propose new things

Start of the internship: ASAP

Duration: 4 to 6 months.
