Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America, provide state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution to final delivery of complete products and also support the products in the aftermarket.
Cab Engineering North America has the responsibility for delivering Cab Projects, Cab Architecture solutions and Cab Features for the Mack Truck and Volvo Truck brands. We develop new and advanced cab solutions for our future trucks while continually adapting our current products to new and different market and customer demands. Working in an international environment is an exciting challenge which is placing more and higher demands on our employees.
Position Responsibilities
  • Primary focus is on Strength and Durability of components that make up the BIW, vehicle front, exterior and interior of class 8 heavy truck vehicles.
  • Understanding and experience in Complete Vehicle Modeling (CVM).
  • High level of expertise in CAE techniques with component, system and full vehicle models to assess performance in Durability & Fatigue attributes.
  • This position ensures accuracy and robustness of durability models and analysis output from those models.
  • Develops confidence between Product Development and FVV by developing and proving correlation between analysis results and physical verification of complete vehicles.
  • Champions quality and effectiveness of best practices, tools and methods identifying needs for best practice development and evolution.
  • Provides guidance to other engineers working in durability, crash and NVH with translation of and interpretation of feature demands into tangible design targets.
  • Must possess communication skills at a level to clearly present analysis results to project and feature leaders.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Science degree (Mechanical) preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in product development with experience in automotive or transportation CAE Analysis; Heavy truck experience is preferred.
  • Experience with injection molded plastics design, sheet metal stampings, BIW structure, vehicle chassis design.
  • Familiar with the use of quality tools such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
  • Experience in Catia V5, LS Dyna, ANSA, CVMD, NCODE/DesignLife, PDM systems
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects at one time.
  • Customer focus: Dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Exceptional team player with leadership experience being a plus.
