Information about the Volvo Group IT Graduate Program:
The Volvo Group IT Graduate Program gives you a unique opportunity to gain a holistic view of the Volvo Group IT and to kick-start your career through international assignments, work in different parts of the organization, networking, and professional and personal development. Upon completion of the program, you will continue to work in the position you were recruited in, either in the same delivery or in another assignment.
The program runs for 11 months and will include 6 countries. The program includes a combination of common and individual graduate activities and day-to-day work at the home department. It also consists of common development activities at different locations globally, where the participants meet and network.
The program also includes learning activities in your home organization and active participation in several data science related assignments.
During the program you will participate in training sessions covering fundamental Group concepts, such as diversity, personal development, project management, cross cultural communication etc.
The M&L (Manufacturing & Logistics) solution unit is one of Group IT’s units. Its mission is to ensure that the Volvo Group’s IT solutions & projects within the area of M&L are managed “end-to-end” in an optimal way. M&L solution unit’s main responsibilities include:
Full life-cycle responsibility for IT solutions:
- Manage pre-studies, development & Integration of new IT solutions
- Manage the maintenance & evolution of Volvo Group IT applications
- Meet SLA based targets regarding run-time cost challenges & business demands
Ensure effective “end-to-end “ solution delivery & support
Drive decommissioning according to solution roadmap decision
Vendor management for software suppliers
Actively contribute in Long Term Planning & Solution Roadmap Development
The Technical Specialist will work to implement proof-of-concepts in emerging technology and interact with different groups within Volvo. A strong understanding of both the business and technology is necessary. The Technical Specialist will act as a point person and mentor for future Innovation interns.
What are my responsibilities?
Implement projects using emerging technology, such as machine learning, data mining, IOT, automated testing applied to real engineering and production/ manufacturing data
Research and investigate potential solutions involving various emerging technologies and their possible implementations in order to achieve overall goals and support solution development collaboratively within cross-functional teams
Produce and maintain controlling documents and gain agreement on emerging technology project scopes, schedules, costs, budget, and implementation strategies
Ensure project goals and scope support business and company goals both short and long term including all development, delivery, and support of IT solutions
Participate in global emerging technology forums to stay abreast of technology in all areas of Manufacturing and Logistics
What skills are needed to qualify for this position?
Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and an appetite for systems thinking
Good mathematical background with a strong orientation towards statistical thinking and multi-disciplinary optimization
Excellent team working and communication (verbal & written) skills in English
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic, interdisciplinary team of experts.
Domain knowledge in machine learning algorithms and techniques, IOT technology is preferred, but not required
Capability to quickly learn new technology
Excellent communication & presentation skills
Minimum Education requirements
Eligible candidates must be recent (2017/2018) or expectant (May 2019) graduate. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role; therefore, US work authorization is required.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or relevant field
