We are now seeking for a
Suspension system design engineer
This function is placed at Product design/development section and it serves multiple projects being develop within UD trucks technology Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics department. The function is responsible to carry out design activities using our knowledge and experiences and CAE/CAD tools and develop the Suspension system and parts for new projects.
Tasks and Responsibilities
It is responsible, within the modules scope of CVDE engineering, to give the main guidelines or solutions for the Suspension system and parts within the vehicles chassis.
Product Development work for Suspension system and parts development including simulation, design, packaging, and documentation of the solutions.(main areas are Leaf suspension system and Air suspension system)
This will be done in a tight cooperation with suppliers, other steering and Axle design engineers in Volvo Global Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Engineering. Also, instructions and orientations for other functions are expected from the function.
Work Contents example
Design mainly Leaf/Air suspension system and parts for Heavy Duty truck with balancing Quality, Delivery, Cost and Vehicle Performances. Installation components with discussion with UD trucks operation which is responsible for truck manufacturing. Perform vehicle simulations and optimization on other installation component and system (ex. Steering and Axle system)
Check vehicle handling and ride comfort performance with vehicle testing department. Lead activities in relation with design and simulation methodologies.
Creation future strategy of suspension and handling / ride comfort performance with global Suspension design team.
The competences requited
We are seeking for a person with experience on suspension development with a knowledge of engineering tools and innovations. The function works in a close cooperation with all engineering groups in Volvo Global Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Engineering, so an open attitude and good communication are necessary.
- Proven experience in suspension development.
- High motivation / challenge willingness for new areas, and fun to vehicle development.
- Knowledge of tools: 3D- CAD (Pro-E), Strength analysis and Windows PC.
- Extensive experience from product development in automotive or transportation industry, preferably within the area of suspension system.
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English.
- Potential high competence in global communication and networking.
- Proven experience as a suspension designer in an Automotive company (5years+)
- English communication is mandatory for daily work so skill of communication as well as daily Japanese communication skill is required.
- BS or MS degree
