Senior Mechanical Engineer - Pneumatic Installation

Interested in an exciting job opportunity in Chassis Engineering? We are looking for an Senior Engineer who can develop, release, and maintain pneumatic components for use on Volvo and Mack Heavy Duty Trucks. The candidate will manage their functional area of responsibility in the Application Center by resolving maintenance, quality, and/or factory issues related to their components.
Furthermore, the selected candidate will interpret project requirements, assess feasibility of potential design solutions, ensure Quality/Delivery/Cost/Feature targets are met, and release designs in a formal engineering process. In addition, the Engineer will work with colleagues in the Development Center to secure small and large scaled project deliveries.
Chassis Engineering North America is the product owner of all Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics projects for the Mack and Volvo brands. Chassis Engineering is responsible for Powertrain Installation, Chassis Equipment, Chassis Structures and Analysis, Steering, Axles, Suspension, Brake System and Vehicle Control.   • Create or update CAD Models, Part Drawings, and Installation Drawings with CREO-Parametric
  • Document design change notices and structure components in the PDM system
  • Release components as applicable to resolve maintenance issues or secure project deliveries
  • Maintain part diversity and adhere to the core component process
  • Drive core component changes or modifications through the Development Center
  • Ensure component durability by requesting analysis and/or test to learn activities
  • Communicate active project deliveries during Daily Team Leadership meetings
  • Frontload work to ensure robust early stage releases and Stable late stage releases
  • Ensure QDCF targets are met
  • Manage area of responsibility by learning and applying applicable tools within the Engineering Database
  • Apply Quality Tools during the design phase and release process
  • Have operational responsibility for a component or sub-module delivery
  • Lead mechanical design engineering activities in a particular area
  • Integrate deliveries from others and secure quality and readiness before release
  • Share knowledge and help develop competence within the team

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required
  • MSME or related field is preferred
​Experience, Skills, Training:
  • 6+ years of experience in Automotive or Heavy Duty Truck Industry is required
  • 6+ years of CAD (CREO - AVP) experience is required
  • Knowledge of Braking Systems and Pneumatics is preferred
  • Knowledge of Volvo DVP is preferred
