Senior Manufacturing Engineer

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for the planning, designs and manufacturing processes. This position will assist in helping to improve production methods, determining capacity and set up production schedules. Will provide support in the design, fabrication, modification and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such at machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly and material handling.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Develop, engineer, build and implement tooling and equipment
  • Trial, establish, and supply technical engineering support for new process trials and current production product
  • Establishes and maintains the optimum production methods, standards, tooling and equipment for all assigned products and processes
  • Promotes manufacturing safety and efficiency through implementation of method/process change, ergonomic application and safety awareness
  • Collaborates with the materials organization on defining and refining material organization and placement using Lean Principles
  • Coordinates the introduction of new product and parts changes in area of responsibility, balancing work timing, processes and manpower requirements
  • Collaborates with cross functional groups in Engineering and Materials in developing performing manufacturing design reviews, and processing design development and prototype builds
  • Identifies and implements methods, processes, and equipment using Lean Six Sigma methodology
  • Uses lessons learned to develop processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency in area of responsibility
  • Implements and applies engineering standards and procedures in compliance with plant practices and policies
  • Analyzes and continuously evaluates and improves assembly efficiency through observation, investigation and critical problem solving
  • Identifies opportunities for cost and manpower reductions through assembly configuration and improvement
  • Establishes and maintains accurate production standards using predetermined time tools (MCTM or MOST)
  • Manage and implement engineering programs as required

Preferred experience and knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of Manufacturing Experience or Equivalent with a focus on engineering and production
  • Must be knowledgeable in tooling and equipment design for apply fixtures, hoists & lifting devices, conveyors and handling equipment
  • Expertise in the area of in-plant logistics to analyze, synthesis and engineer line facase and in-plant mertial replenishment
  • Experience working in cross-functional and multicultural team
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment and automotive transportation industry preferred
  • Demonstrated lean manufacturing experience
Necessary technical/functional/language skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a local and international environment
  • Ideal candidate will have intrapreneurship spirt and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent analytical, critical and creative thinking, judgment, time management, and problem solving skills
  • As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required
  • Must be proficient in the MS Office: Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and CAD
  • Strong understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses is a plus
  • Occasional travel will be required
