Job Description:
  • As an associate engineer, you will be responsible to analyze powertrain installation related simulations and also support VVC - Vehicle validation and Certification team during testing of powertrain installation systems. You will work closely with the system architects to verify the cooling, coolant system requirements & verify/validate vehicle hotspot management.
  • In your work, there will be frequent contacts with other departments within Volvo, you will have your own fields of responsibilities while working with cross functional team & peers in other teams. You will also have to interface with other stake holders such as VVC, PE - Powertrain engineering, Purchasing and Aftermarket.
  • You would work with 1D steady/transient state simulations related to vehicle cooling performance, coolant flow and pressure, cooling coil simulations using GT-Suite software & 3D hotspot simulations using TAITHERM software. In addition, you will support in conducting various vehicle level testings related to, static coolant system, vehicle cooling and hotspot. And responsible for post processing of test outcome to verify the system requirements
  • You will support component owners to solve quality issues that expects simulation/physical testing to verify/validate the root cause
  • You will release engineering reports for the test/simulation outcomes, on review with System architect and cross functional teams.
  • There will be opportunity to work with start cost (New product development) projects and Maintenance projects. You might also need to support global delegations and support the global teams with our expertise in these areas.

  • Depending on the applicant profile, additional responsibilities could be added on advanced engineering activities and system performance related tasks.

Qualification and skills
  • Experience in handling new product development and maintenance projects. General awareness of the product development life cycle and change management activities for maintenance are required for this role.
  • Experience in the simulation and testing of powertrain installation systems.
  • Engineering degree with strong fundamentals and good analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using the tools like Excel and/or MATLAB.
  • Good knowledge on fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of powertrain and vehicle systems/components would be a plus.
