Excavator Product Specialist

Seeking product marketing management professionals to help VCES build, drive demand and maintain a strong position in the excavator market.

The Excavator Product Specialist will be responsible for the VCES Excavator sales and marketing support. The Excavator Specialist will be responsible for the strategy and tactics of our customer focused excavator program that helps to generate demonstrated returns. This position functions as the subject matter expert in Excavators for VCES.
  • Exhibit a safe work and environmentally sound conduct at all times to demonstrate support of VCES California’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives
  • Build and/or support the development and implementation of marketing activities associated with excavator products
  • Work to develop launch plans for new model excavators in conjunction with the Dealer Management Team. Support GM’s with various activities during market launch
  • Build product and industry knowledge internally to ensure that the sales forces have the required product and competitor knowledge. Ensure that all sales persons are participating in all available training and included in any competitions for sales persons conducted by our OEM
  • Work with GM’s to develop sales territory plans and strategy for excavators in California
  • Support sales team in efforts to either sell to current accounts or conquest accounts. This includes and not limited to demo program
  • Drive a results orientated approach to excavator sales, with strong focus on targeted activities and robust activity and follow-up measurement
  • Monitor excavator sales performance and KPIs and report progress to Management Teams
  • Develop excellent working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Volvo Construction Equipment
  • Participate in and lead appropriate training and attend industry association events
Success Factors:
  • Proven experience in identifying target audiences and in creatively devising and leading across channel marketing campaigns that engage, educated and motivate
  • Safety conscious and customer centric with effective relationship building through all levels
  • Exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Numerically competent, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in Sales/Marketing in construction or heavy equipment industry
  • Ability to effectively adapt and prioritize in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
  • Improvement mind set, self-motivated, independent and a team player with strong initiative
Physical Requirements (e.g. language, mobility):
  • Requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a time
  • Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials, up to 15lbs
  • Requires stooping, bending, and reaching
  • Will work in a noisy and dusty environment
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle
  • Must be able to climb stairs and use a small stepladder
  • Some travel, required
