We’re looking for someone to join us to help Volvo Group revolutionize the future of transport, and also the legal function within Volvo. You will be part of a global team of legal counsels providing legal support to the entire Volvo Group purchasing organization. Your future legal team colleagues are in Sweden, China, France and the United States
ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are recruiting a German qualified Legal Counsel to the GTP Legal and Compliance Department with a specialization in bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency. You will report to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Legal & Compliance, Group Trucks Purchasing. The work tasks will involve cross-functional collaboration with other Volvo legal counsels and business stakeholders across the globe and will require travelling from time to time.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
  • Take the active legal lead on supplier insolvency, restructuring and bankruptcy matters
  • Participate in contract drafting and negotiations with suppliers
  • Provide advice to enable proactive identification of at-risk suppliers and mitigation of potential bankruptcy and insolvency matters
  • Provide counselling to business stakeholders in conjunction with supplier disputes
  • Draft and updating contract templates and legal guidelines
  • Coordinate with legal counsels from other parts of the Volvo Group around the world on other related bankruptcy and insolvency matters
Critical Competencies:
  • 10 plus years’ experience
  • Licensed to practice law in Germany
  • Excellent English and German communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Substantial experience with insolvency, restructuring and bankruptcy matters
  • Proficiency in negotiation and drafting of contracts together with experience in contract and commercial law in the German market
  • A true business interest and understanding of the German market
  • High drive and energy
  • Readiness to perform multiple duties effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A drive to learn, develop and contribute to the success of the Volvo Group and of the legal team
  • Distinctive problem-solving abilities and a commercial interest
  • Curious, accountable and proactive with a “can do” mindset
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Ability to work cross jurisdictions with cultural awareness and appreciation
  • Strong personal credibility and integrity
