CampX by Volvo Group

CampX by Volvo Group is our global innovation arena for technology and business transformation, focusing on Electromobility, Automation and Connectivity. The first CampX site is located in Gothenburg. Here Volvo Group experts work together with external partners to develop future transport solutions in a spirit of entrepreneurship.

Innovation Lab by Volvo Group Connected Solutions

Connectivity, software development and the design of new services are the focus areas for the Connected Solutions organization at Volvo Group.

Using collected telematic data as a goldmine for insights, the Innovation Lab teams at Connected Solutions co-operate with Volvo Group's business areas to invent and design the services for tomorrow. Working closely with end-users the teams work in agile designs sprints, using rapid prototyping and design thinking methods.

iLabX by Volvo Financial Services

iLabX by Volvo Financial Services is a ten week program being run in partnership with corporate innovation specialist L Marks. The program provides selected start-ups the opportunity to develop and test their ideas and technology alongside Volvo Financial Services’ leading experts in the commercial transport and financial industries.

Partnership initiatives

Volvo Group and Daimler joint venture

Daimler Truck AG

Sharing the Green Deal vision of sustainable transport and a carbon neutral Europe by 2050, Daimler Truck AG and the Volvo Group have signed a preliminary non-binding agreement to establish a new joint venture. The intention is to develop, produce and commercialize fuel cell systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications and other use cases.

NVIDIA and Volvo Group collaboration

NVIDIA

The Volvo Group has signed an agreement with NVIDIA to jointly develop the decision making system of autonomous commercial vehicles and machines. Utilizing NVIDIA’s end-to-end artificial intelligence platform for training, simulation and in-vehicle computing, the resulting system is designed to safely handle fully autonomous driving on public roads and highways.

Samsung and Volvo Group alliance

Samsung SDI

Volvo Group and Samsung SDI have entered into a strategic alliance to develop battery packs for Volvo Group’s electric trucks. Working together with Samsung SDI, Volvo Group aims to accelerate the speed of development and strengthen the long-term capabilities and assets within electromobility, to the benefit of customers in different truck segments and markets.

Volvo Lights

The Volvo LIGHTS project will demonstrate the ability of battery electric vehicles to improve freight and warehouse efficiencies, reduce emissions and improve public health – particularly in disadvantaged communities. It will transform freight operations at the facilities of two of the United States’ top trucking fleets.

WWF Climate Savers 2.0

We are still the only automotive manufacturer that is a member of WWF´s Climate Savers program. The unique strategic cooperation will now increase. In addition to a promise to reduce emissions from vehicles and production during the 2015 to 2020 period, Volvo will implement a number of activities aimed at accelerating the development toward lower and ultimately zero carbon emissions throughout the transport and construction sector.

Volvo Environment Prize

The Volvo Environment Prize is awarded annually to people who have made outstanding scientific discoveries within the area of environment and sustainable development. Laureates represent all fields of environmental and sustainability studies and initiatives. The prize, which is awarded by an independent foundation instituted in 1988, has become one of the world’s most prestigious environmental scientific prizes. The award ceremony takes place in Stockholm, Sweden.
