Cranchi launches three new yachts with Volvo Penta engines and ingenious IPS propulsion system

Italian boat-builder Cranchi launches three stunning new yachts with Volvo Penta engines and ingenious IPS propulsion systems. Two flybridge vessels and one hard top boat will receive their world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

Italian boat-builder, Cranchi, has chosen Volvo Penta’s 8-liter and 11-liter engines with perfectly matched Inboard Performance System (IPS) to power three beautiful yachts, under its new ‘Evoluzione’ series. The E52 F flybridge and E52 S hard top yachts are both powered by twin Volvo Penta D8-IPS700s; while the E56 F flybridge yacht can be powered by either twin D11-IPS800s or D11-IPS900s. All three boats are being launched by Cranchi at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

“We have created our new Evoluzione range to push boundaries and transcend all limits,” says Paola Cranchi, sales and marketing manager at Cranchi. “We constantly evolve and look to the future, and these three new models break the rules in yachting.”

She adds: “We chose Volvo Penta’s engines and IPS because the engine is always at the heart of a yacht and affects the way it cruises. IPS is an evolution and it is the future. It is easy to use and is supported by all the electronics. It is the engine system and the hull together which make all the difference in a boat.”

Passion for quality
Cranchi, co-owned by fifth generation members of the Cranchi family along with the Monzino family, has been designing and making boats since 1870. The company now creates a range of marine craft including sport boats, flybridge and hard top yachts, cruisers, trawlers and outboard fishing vessels.

All three of the new yachts feature three master cabins, two bathrooms, and a fourth cabin for additional guests or crew members. The 52ft-long E52 F and S models can accommodate seven overnight passengers and 12 people on board for a day’s boating; while the 56ft-long E56 F houses eight overnight passengers and can carry 14 people during the day. Stylish interiors and external sunbathing decks are designed for pleasure cruising enjoyment.

The yachts are also equipped with Volvo Penta’s Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) – which integrates engine, drive systems and function controls in one interface – and the pioneering Glass Cockpit System, which allows the driver to customize operational functions.

Perfect combination
Volvo Penta’s new 8-liter engine expands the offer of its diesel products for applications that require low weight with high power, and its latest IPS drive has been optimized to fit perfectly with the D8. The propulsion system is available in two models: D8-IPS700 has a power output of 550hp; while D8-IPS800 runs at 600hp. The company’s 11-liter engine is available in 625hp, 670 and 725hp, and each can be matched with Volvo Penta IPS.

Since its first inception, Volvo Penta IPS has revolutionized the marine industry with its twin forward-facing counter-rotating propellers which sit below the hull in undisturbed water, enabling superior grip. IPS provides up to 30 per cent better fuel efficiency (when compared to a stand-alone inboard engine), as well as lower emissions, and reduced noise and vibration. Available in twin, triple or quadruple installation, the individually steerable pods enable precision steering and docking.

“Our new D8-IPS and the 11-liter engine matched with IPS are superb propulsion systems for Cranchi’s new yachts,” says Nicola Pomi, marine sales manager at Volvo Penta in Italy and Spain. “The engines and IPS drives combine perfectly to provide excellent performance for cruising at planing speeds while retaining full control through excellent maneuvering. We have worked well with Cranchi to find the best performance solutions for their beautiful new boats.”

Volvo Penta will be at stand Jetee179 at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 6-11. Cranchi will be at stands PAN010 and PAN212.
