Logotypes

These three logotypes are the primary logotypes used to represent Volvo Group and its Volvo business areas. Whenever in doubt about which one to use, visit the following sections to select the relevant one for your purpose. 

The Volvo Group logotype

The Volvo Group logotype is the primary identification carrier for Volvo Group Headquarters, Volvo Group Functions and Volvo Group Truck Divisions, Volvo corporate offices/operations (e.g., Volvo Group India) and Volvo Financial Services. The fundamental rules regarding the Volvo Group logotype are presented on this page. Always use master artwork. 

Clear zone 

The recommended minimum clear zone is equal to a quarter of the width of the Volvo Group logotype.

NOTE: When placing the Volvo Group logotype next to other logotypes the minimum clear zone should be equal to the width of the Volvo Group logotype.

NOTE: The logotype may be placed without a clear zone on an image, a colored background and when placed by the edge.

Visibility

To ensure that the Volvo Group logotype is clearly visible, it should never be rendered less than 15 mm wide in print. For digital interfaces, including websites and mobile apps, there are exceptions to this rule. However, visibility must always be ensured.

Placement

The Volvo Group logotype can be placed on white or light backgrounds, on black or dark backgrounds and on images. Make sure to always ensure visibility. 

Placement in various media

The Volvo Group logotype can be placed in a variety of ways depending on the layout. It can be aligned to the edge or placed in the active area. It can be centered, aligned left or right. For each media there is a primary placement. The Volvo Group logotype can be used as a legal sender. 

NOTE: Carefully consider logotype prominence in relation to the other elements. Always strive to achieve a balance between logotype and main message. Avoid several competing elements.

The Volvo Iron Mark logotype

The Volvo Iron Mark logotype in full-color is the primary identification carrier for Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Buses, Volvo Defense, Volvo Autonomous Solutions and Volvo Financial Services. The fundamental rules regarding the Volvo Iron Mark logotype are presented on this page. Always use master artwork.

Clear zone 

Minimum clear zone equals half the width of the Volvo Iron Mark logotype. The only exceptions to the clear zone rule are found in a few signage solutions and event perimeter boards.

NOTE: When placing the Volvo Iron Mark logotype next to other logotypes the minimum clear zone should be equal to the width of the Volvo Iron Mark logotype.

 

Visibility

To ensure that the Volvo Iron Mark logotype is clearly visible, it should never be rendered less than 12 mm wide in print. For digital interfaces, including websites and mobile apps, as well as for merchandise, there are exceptions to this rule. However, visibility and clarity must always be ensured.

NOTE: The appearance of the Volvo Iron Mark logotype must always be consistent. For reproductions smaller than 14 mm or 40 px in width, use master artwork
designed specifically for small applications.

 

Placement

The Volvo Iron Mark logotype can be placed on white or light backgrounds, on black or dark backgrounds and on images. Make sure to always ensure visibility.

 

Additional guidance

Business descriptor and tagline

The business descriptor and/or tagline may be presented as text on at least clear zone distance from the Volvo Iron Mark logotype.

 

Volvo emblems

The Volvo Iron Mark logotype is used on Volvo products as outlined in the Volvo Emblem Handbook.

Volvo Iron Mark logotype for film

Note that there is an animated Volvo Iron Mark logotype to be used in films. 

Secondary usage:

The line-art version of the Volvo Iron Mark logotype should be used when full-color reproduction is not possible. It is reserved for use on merchandise (embossing, etching, spot UV varnishing, etc.) to create subtle tone-to-tone effects. Never use the line-art version in printed material or digital communication. No exceptions are allowed unless approved by the Brand management department at Volvo Group HQ (BEX).

 

The Volvo word mark logotype in isolation is used only on flags, signs, certain products including merchandise, parts and components as well as in situations shared with Volvo Car Corporation. No exceptions are allowed unless approved by the Brand management department at Volvo Group HQ (BEX).

Placement in various media

The Volvo Iron Mark logotype can be placed in a variety of ways depending on the layout. It can be centered and left or right-aligned. For each media there is a primary placement. The Volvo Iron Mark logotype can be used as a legal sender.

 

NOTE: Carefully consider logotype prominence in relation to the other elements. Always strive to achieve a balance between logotype and main message. Avoid several competing elements.

The Volvo Penta logotype

The Volvo Blue, stacked version of the Volvo Penta logotype is the primary identification carrier for Volvo Penta. The fundamental rules regarding the Volvo Penta logotype are presented on this page. Always use master artwork.

 

Clear zone 

The minimum distance between the Volvo Penta logotype and any other graphical element equals the height of the word “Volvo” in the logotype. The only exceptions to the clear zone rule are found in a few signage solutions and event perimeter boards.

NOTE: When placing the Volvo Penta logotype next to other logotypes a double clear zone is preferred.

Visibility

To ensure that the Volvo Penta logotype is clearly visible, it should never be rendered less than 26.5 mm wide in print. The only exceptions are for approved merchandise and digital interfaces. However, visibility and clarity must always be ensured.

Placement

The Volvo Penta logotype can be presented in Volvo Blue, black or white. Use the Volvo Blue version on white backgrounds. The black version on white or light image
