Communications Manager

Who are we?
Service Market Logistics (SML) within North America is part of Group Trucks Operations and has approximately 1,000 employees across nine distribution centers in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Our job is to design, handle and optimize the service market supply chain for all Volvo Group brands by ensuring the availability and efficient distribution of spare parts to our customers across North America and beyond.
Our Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS is the hub of SML and takes the leading role in driving the North American parts business with our eight Regional Distribution Centers. This state-of-the-art facility boasts 1,000,000 SF and is located approximately 25 miles southeast of Memphis, TN.
What is the job?
As a member of the Byhalia Central Distribution Center’s management team, the Communications Manager is integral to the promotion, understanding and alignment of vision and strategy for the site. This role also takes leadership of implementing corporate communications initiatives and processes at the CDC. In addition, this role will also participate in global communications networks and support North American and Global communications initiatives and projects (75% local site, 25% regional/global).
This is a critical role for our business as it drives engagement with our most valuable resource – our people. In this role, you will deliver measurable management/employee cohesion through proactive and consistent stakeholder communications. You’ll also advise local leadership and provide expert guidance on issues related to change management. You’ll provide important information to our employees by generating local internal communication via multiple channels – eBoards, newsletters, and more! – and measure their effectiveness. There is a compliance piece as you will drive site adherence to all facets of Volvo Group brand and identity guidelines. But there will also be room for creativity as you plan and execute key events such as employee town hall meetings, dialogue sessions or internal conferences. You’ll also play a role in welcoming others to the CDC by coordinating and leading site visits with key internal (company executives) and external (customers, dealers, etc) stakeholders.

Who are you?
  • A bachelor degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related degree is required

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a communications role. Experience within an industrial environment (i.e. distribution center, manufacturing plant, etc.) preferred

  • The ability to work with and communicate to different audience types in creative ways

  • A strong capacity and track record in building a company culture

  • Exemplary verbal and non-verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience in communications coaching and consulting

  • Familiarity using measurement tactics for identifying the success of communications activities

  • Proficiency with the Adobe Design Suite and video production/editing is preferred
