Director, Verification & Validation North America

In GTT Complete Vehicle, we can offer you a highly challenging position with a great purpose and impact on Volvo Group. Complete Vehicle is a global function within Group Trucks Technology (GTT) with 1600 employees in the areas of Product design (PD), Product builds of prototypes (PB), Features Verification & Validation (FVV) and Aftermarket technology (AMT). CV USA function is responsible for FVV and PB areas and we are on an exciting change journey with focus on quality, truck performance and maximizing the output through cadence in testing activities.
We are now looking for a Director of Verification & Validation function in Greensboro, NC, reporting to the Vice President of CV USA.
In this position you will lead and manage a team of highly skilled Test Engineers and Specialists whose primary mission is to verify and validate Customer Features on component, system and complete vehicle levels in demanding, real world applications in close collaboration with Product Owners. This is a Leading Leaders position, and you will be responsible for areas like Driver and Vehicle Productivity, Durability & Reliability, Product Validation and Testing Technology. Your main task over time is to develop the team and the individuals to support future challenges contributing to the deliveries of product updates according to quality, delivery, cost and feature targets.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Master’s degree in an Engineering or technical discipline is required.
  • Supervisory experience as Manager with direct reports
  • 15+ years of Product Development experience in the transportation industry
  • Experience working with testing, data collection and post-processing, instrumentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills  
  • Excellent in team development and interest in how each person can contribute to the team.
  • True interest in our products and preferably commercial driver license for truck and trailer

Key Responsibilities:
As Director of Verification & Validation, your main responsibility is to lead the V&V organization and to secure efficient contribution to the development and maintenance of the products in the North American segments.
We expect you to be knowledgeable and experienced in building effective teams as well as having a strong delivery mind set. We also think that you need to be customer focused and have a high level of integrity and autonomy.
You will lead the Verification & Validation group deliveries – respecting budget, delivery time & quality – in areas like:
  • Driver & Vehicle Productivity (e.g. Fuel Eco, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, etc)
  • Durability & Reliability (e.g. strength and fatigue testing, structural simulation, etc)
  • Customer field testing
  • Reliability testing, including Application-Based Validation (ABV), RT Hot, RT Cold, RT5/RT50
  • Performance Validation Testing (PVT)
  • Testing Technology (e.g. instrumentation, calibration, data analytics, chassis dyno)

You will actively work with your Vehicle Engineering/Powertrain Engineering counterparts to address complex technical challenges.
