Intern: Digitalization & IT (Summer 2022)

The Mack Digitalization & IT Internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to promote the student’s career goals through contact with professionals in IT, manufacturing, and logistics areas. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group / Mack Trucks by working on activities and projects for Mack Digitalization and IT. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns and full time professionals work together within their selected area of the organization. The internship allows students to integrate their business process, IT, manufacturing, and logistics knowledge and skills with real world business processes and experiences.
The outcome is experience and growth for the intern, and process improvement / new insights into the business for management.
The internship position is for the Summer of 2021
Position Objective:
The Mack Digitalization & IT internship position will be responsible for working with various internal and external stakeholders and partners. Activities, including but not limited to: full stack application development, user training, process analysis, and data modeling using Mack’s wide range of internal systems, to help drive process and efficiency improvements.
Main Tasks:
Work with Digitalization & IT at Mack to define scope of activities, priorities, and improvements that will be pursued over the internship period.
Skill Set Requirements:
  • Solid programming knowledge in C++, JavaScript, Java, Python, SQL, and HTML
  • Focus on writing reusable code
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Engineering modeling / CAD experience a plus
  • Advanced business communication and writing skills.
  • Team work and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Effective professional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree related to Computer Science / Information Technology at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship
  • Strong preference for Junior/Senior students with a 3.5 or above GPA
