Solution Engineer – CAD/VPDM Global Support

Virtual Lifecycle Management solutions covers CAD, Virtual Product lifecycle management (PLM), Augmented and Virtual reality applications. The solutions are a key enabler to achieve engineering efficiency, virtual trust, and the digital twin capabilities across the Volvo Group.

We are Virtual Lifecycle Management Solution Centre working to increase efficiency through our current set of digital and IT solutions.

Our existing IT solutions comprises of a mix of varied technologies like Microsoft, Java, and Commercial Off the shelf (COTS) IT solutions and SaaS solutions from CAD and PLM vendors. We find ourselves on the cusp of a transformation with heavy investments to transform and modernize our overall IT architecture.

We are supporting the Volvo Group’s Digital ambitions to become a fully agile, data-driven company, and we are building the foundations for the virtual trust, supported by improved use of digital twins, i.e the digital data representing a physical object as well as an improved digital thread, the integrated view of physical products’ digital data through it’s lifecycle.

Role Description Your Mission:

We are looking for a Solution Engineer in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) area
We are now looking for a junior level solution engineer with passion for supporting and developing the IT solutions to meet the needs in the PLM area of the business going forward.

Since you are part of a global unit, with global responsibilities, you will need to actively cooperate with various stakeholders and navigate with ease in a multi-cultural environment.

Role mission & context:

You as Solution Engineer will be part of an experienced team of other solution engineers, delivery leaders and solution leaders.

You will be part of handling Group Trucks VLM solutions, CAD/PLM portfolio. PLM portfolio handles the main systems that manages Product Lifecyle Management for the Volvo group. We have IT representation in Bangalore, Lyon, Gothenburg, and Greensboro.

We have started a PLM journey, shaping Volvo’s new way of working within the PLM/VM area. We are facing a very challenging and exciting period as we are about to create the future IT environment in this area.

Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Technical Experience Required:

  • 3-5+ years of hands-on CAD experience.

    • Creo or Catia a plus

  • Experience and/or good knowledge of PLM Systems

    • Windchill/PDMLink a plus

  • Fluent in Microsoft suite of applications

    • Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, Sharepoint, etc…

Wanted Profile:

As a Solution Engineer you will be part of an environment that embrace change and trust. You have proven experience in Product Development and or Product Lifecycle Management and are driven to improve the day-to-day experience for our PLM tool users.

You are used to communicate with different stakeholders in different levels in an organization since the delivery touches the day-to-day operation on many levels.

You will be one of our PLM specialists to support end users in tools and methods, also do some CAD/PLM trainings for end users. We are using CREO and CATIA with Windchill/PDMLink.

For this position we are looking for a CREO specialist, a CATIA specialist can also be of high interest for our team.

  • You will also be part of the delivery of the solution in different agile teams.
  • Engineering Mechanical engineering or similar is a strength.
  • Experience to lead CAD/PLM trainings is a strength.
  • Experience of agile/SAFe way of working is a merit.
  • Fluent in English
