Volvo Motherwell are seeking a Buyer to provide operational and strategic support for our Purchasing teams’ procurement activities. The successful candidate will drive best value for cost, quality, delivery and service throughout the lifecycle of each product and be responsible for supplier selection and management. This will involve input into Supplier Agreements and reviews where appropriate.
You will oversee the buying and sourcing strategy for an assigned group of commodities and/or suppliers. This will involve sourcing, cost reduction, supplier development and management in accordance to departmental KPIs. 

Furthermore, you will set out to achieve inventory targets by working with Purchasing Commodity teams, while ensuring current and future technologies are considered in order to meet New Product Introduction roadmap requirements.

To be successful in this role, we believe you need:

• HND/Degree in business or management with CIPS Level 4 qualification.

• 5 years buying experience in a medium volume manufacturing environment

• The ability to work with technical information for procurement purposes (sourcing, negotiation, supplier management and new product introduction)

• Strong problem-solving skills (analysis, judgement & decision making)

• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written & presentation)

• An understanding of customer needs whilst effectively managing supply chain activities

• Skilful in negotiation and influencing

• Proficient computer skills (SAP experience is advantageous)
