Position Summary:
The Welder Associate position is a part-time role, allowing the successful candidate to pick and choose their hours week to week, picking only the shifts that work best for them.
General Responsibilities:

  • Ability to provide feedback in a professional manner and escalate items as required

  • Must be able to demonstrate operational excellence through attitude and actions

  • Perform duties relates to quality, productivity and safety for all Internal Supply operations

  • Present a professional quality image and encourage others to continuously produce to a high standard of quality while seeking continuous improvements

Welder Responsibilities:

  • All Welds should be made to meet Volvo Weld Specifications

  • Detect and report faulty operation, defective material

  • Equipment used includes a wide variety of welding positioners, stands, fixtures, tables, jim boom suspended welders and a variety of weld wire in coils, spools or drums and applicable flux materials

  • Interpret drawing and shop orders to determine fixture and welding requirements

  • Maintain working area in neat and orderly condition and report all production information in the appropriate computer system

  • Material processed consists of various grades of carbon steel and is handled by hand, lift truck, jib boom hoist, or overhead bridge crane; basic use of pneumatic tools is required

  • Plan and perform hand and automatic arc welding operations to weld similar and some dissimilar metals in all positions for structural and mechanical strength

  • Receive direction from Supervisor

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Ability to pass Volvo Construction Equipment Certification in gas metal arc (GMAW) and flux cored arc (FCAW) welding

  • Ability to read blueprints

  • Follow all prescribed safety regulations

  • Minimum of one year experience in gas metal arc (GMAW) and flux cored arc (FCAW) welding or have held a welder position at this facility previously and maintained welder certification

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Must be able to successfully complete all pre-screening requirements, including drug test, background check and pre-employment physical exam

    • Physical Requirements include, but are not limited to:

      • Able to lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds

      • Able to stand for extended periods of time

      • Able to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift

      • Able to bend, reach, squat, and climb stairs/steps

      • Able to adapt to a broad range of temperature conditions

Job Type: Flexible Part-Time, Shifts up to 5 hours/day, maximum 29 hours/week.
Pay Rate: $24.00/hr
