As Legal Counsel IP you would join the Volvo Group Intellectual Property (VGIP) department, managing all IP of the Volvo Group. You would be part of the team IP Legal, Trademarks & Designs, which is one out of four teams in VGIP. The team consists of experts in IP contracts, licensing, and transactions as well as IP disputes, trademarks, and designs. VGIP is organized within Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT).

The direction of GTT is clear, we are determined to develop the sustainable and innovative technologies of the future, allowing the Volvo Group to provide the most desired and successful transport solutions in the world. These are exciting times with rapid innovation and major vehicle technology shifts.

The Legal Counsel we are looking for will:
  • Provide pragmatic business-oriented IP legal advice to the daily business operations in Volvo Group, including, e.g., strategic collaborations, development projects, contract negotiations, and transactions with IP impact.
  • Handle IP defense and enforcement cases in close collaboration with our Senior Patent Enforcement Attorneys, in particular relating to patents, and setting up and managing global working groups with involved stakeholders on a project basis.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal IP policies, guidelines, and directives.
  • Provide internal training on IP legal issues.
  • Assist in the preparation and interpretation of legal reports, statements, or other documents.
  • Manage external providers of legal services.
You will report to Vice President Volvo Group IP – IP Legal, Trademarks & Designs.
The work may require traveling from time to time.

The Legal Counsel we are looking should have:
  • A Master of Law
  • Solid legal and IP experience of at least 8 years from a law firm, inhouse legal counsel role or equivalent.
  • Solid experience from representing at courts and of dispute resolution, from drafting and negotiating complex IP-related contracts and from managing IP transactions and licensing set ups.
  • Problem solving and project leader capabilities, good communication skills and cultural awareness and appreciation.
  • Excellent command of English.
