Tiffany came in contact with Volvo as she worked at one of the top advertising agencies in China. “Volvo certainly stood out among all my clients and I decided this was a company I wanted to be part of”, she says.
The transfer to Volvo occurred in 2010 and today she’s Global Director of Internal Communications at Volvo Construction Equipment’s headquarters in Brussels. In this role Tiffany is responsible for making sure the employee communication strategy is aligned with the business strategy.
“My job is to ensure the company’s direction or changes are well understood by all employees, to get their buy in and to gain their commitment achieving high performing business results.”
The job also includes supporting and coaching leaders to gain employee understanding and commitment that drive changes in behaviours and attitude.
Being part of a global company with more than 100,000 employees makes collaboration part of the daily work. “Collaboration with others is important not only to deliver a great job, but to learn from each other and improve ourselves. At Volvo Group, we probably have one of the best communication systems that helps us easily find the right people and connect with others”, she says.
The move to Brussels has meant a lot to Tiffany in more than one way.
“I have developed tremendously working at this global headquarters; the best way to learn is to be surrounded by smart and experienced people. I work with the top management team and with colleagues from more than 20 nationalities on a day to day basis. I have learnt so much from them.”
Even on a personal level, the move turned out to be a jackpot.
“I came here single, now I am happily married with my Belgian husband. All above would not have happened if it wasn't the opportunity and trust Volvo Group gave me.”
