This is our main hub, which was opened in 2019. Here we gather almost 1000 experts within the areas of electromobility, automation and fuel cells to develop sustainable transport solutions in an open innovation arena. One of the most important factors for technology development is testing and that is why we have several labs and testing facilities for prototype building as well as simulation solutions in CampX. Examples of labs in-house are two concept vehicle labs, battery labs, battery climate chamber, virtual reality labs, HIL rigs etc.
In the Gothenburg hub we also have our CampX Incubator where early-stage start-up companies are co-located in our facilities, receive global & local mentors, use the Volvo network, sit with other Volvo partners and have the possibility to use workshops and labs in the house.
CampX Gothenburg is located in Campus Lundby where the Volvo history began. The building itself has a historical value and between 1950-1980 it served as the first assembly line for trucks and buses. With two assembly lines, the production capacity was 13,000-15,000 buses & trucks/ year. CampX has gone from being a truck and bus factory to a partnership factory.
