What You Will be Doing

  • Serve as a technical authority regarding emissions compliance requirements related to mandatory defect reporting and give guidance & direction when needed to ensure that compliance is maintained
  • Manage/ approve changes to existing product offerings associated with emissions related engine certification labels
  • Process and prepare reports for defects and/or warranty issues related emissions impacting components and systems for submission to the relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Compile documentation describing engine and aftertreatment operation, emissions related systems and components, and OBD monitors.
  • Ensure that all processes necessary for maintaining legal emissions compliance are properly documented and maintained.
  • Assist in facilitating the Product Compliance Committee to ensure that any items, which need to be addressed are clearly presented and decisions are made in a timely manner
  • Represent Volvo to the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board as necessary and when appropriate
  • Strengthen industry influence via regular participation within the appropriate EMA committees.
  • Occasional domestic travel and possibly international travel may be required

You will be responsible for:
  • Defect reporting to the EPA, CARB, and Environment Canada
  • Remedial action reports and updates the EPA, CARB, and Environment Canada
  • Engine information labels for diesel & E-mobility
  • Aftermarket replacement engines & labels
  • Certification marking for emissions related components
  • EPA/CARB compliance reporting tool
  • Powertrain engineering liaison for sustainability and circularity
  • Manage engine testing exemptions
  • Support of EMA labelling task force & workshop SC)

What We Are Looking For
  • Someone with an understanding of diesel combustion and after-treatment systems.
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical field preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of experience in HD-diesel technology.
  • Experience working with Government Regulatory Agencies is a plus.
