Software Engineer – Rhelp

In this position you will be part of the Service Market Logistics solution center in the Core Platform Area Supply Chain and Purchasing.
We are now looking for a Software Engineer – Mainframe for the SML Supply Central Rhelp/Lhelp/SPIS team

The Rhelp/Lhelp/SPIS team is responsible for the IT deliveries related globally appointed solutions in the Central Warehouse solutions portfolio for Ghent, as Rhelp/Lhelp and SPIS. The team works in close cooperation with the Solution Management team within the overall SML Supply Central team.
The function consists of Software Engineer, Database Administrator, Technical Expert, Delivery Leader, Scrum Master and Solution Architect.

In this role you will be part of the Rhelp/Lhelp team and report to the Delivery Manager Rhelp/Lhelp/SPIS driving IT deliveries for the Rhelp and Lhelp solutions.
Role mission & context

As a Software engineer you will be applying the principles of engineering to software development. You need to perform analysis and modifying existing software. Also you will design, code and test different application modules to meet the business requirements in Rhelp/Lhelp/SPIS.

Key responsibilities
    • Work with agile(Scrum/Kanban) mindset and thought process that will involve understanding, collaborating, learning, and staying flexible to achieve high-performing results.
    • Application development, maintenance and support. Debug application code to analyse and solve business critical issues.
    • Adopt the Rhelp standards to deliver good quality and efficient software, according to business requirements within the given time frame.
    • Understand the user requirements, requirement analysis, develop and unit test services that support business requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant IT Services processes, methods and tools, and business processes.
    • Secure that the necessary and relevant documentation, review and audits are performed for the developed modules.
    • Create good practices and propose improvements.

  • Mandatory Skills:
    • IBM Mainframe, COBOL, JCL, DB2
    • Excellent Analytical and Problem solving skills are required
  • Good to Have Technical Skills:
    • IMS DB/DC
    • WMQ
    • File Manager, Fault Analyzer
    • ServiceNow tool (ITSM)
    • Scrum / Agile methodology
  • Good to Have Domain Skills:
    • Automotive/Service Market business domain

    • Ability to perform as an Individual Contributor
    • Ability to technically guide and support team members within area of responsibility
    • Good Written and Verbal Communication skills

    • Flexible to work in Maintenance/Support as well as Development Projects
    • Flexible to work in shifts (European time), on-call as per business needs
    • Flexible to travel as per business needs (post pandemic situation)

Minimum Years of Experience Required
    • 5 to 8 years with hands on experience as Software Engineer in Mandatory Skillsets.

Minimum Education Required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Science, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities
