Manufacturing Technology Engineer - Operations Graduate Program (F/M)

If you are up for the challenge of developing the next generation of production plants and want to be a part of the innovative world of Volvo Group, this is the graduate program for you!
During 15 intense and exciting months, the program will give you a holistic view of the Volvo Group’s global truck manufacturing organization. You will get to know our different brands and their plants and learn about our logistics organizations and activities. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end-to-end supply chain, aftermarket parts, and our remanufacturing operations.
In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions. You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will have the opportunity for several “on-the-job” rotations and experience working on real project assignments. In addition, you will join a number of learning modules where you get together with other program participants to take part in training and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group.

At the Group Trucks Operation Plant in Vénissieux, we manufacture two engine ranges (Medium and Heavy Duty) for all Volvo Group applications. Guided by Continuous Improvement, the engine plant provides a modern, quiet, safe, and pleasant working environment. Within the Plant, we are the Manufacturing Engineering Team, built around 50 people with 4 first-line managers, valuing open dialogue and collaboration. Our purpose is both to support the plant daily performance and to shape its long-term future.
We are driving new product introductions (engines, emob) and leading the transformation of the industrial system, from continuous improvement initiatives to major industrial projects. We are a team interested in Manufacturing 4.0 with a strong willingness to be at the forefront of technology development!

Job Description:

Do you want to be part of our digitalization journey? At Vénissieux, you will have the opportunity to be a key player and be actively involved in the Plant transformation.

You will be part of a team with great passion for technology and providing solutions that are becoming real on the shopfloor. The job requires good communication skills to establish relationships with recipients within the factory.

In the program you will be exposed to a lot of colleagues and teams to learn from, both from the Vénissieux factory but also from other Plants. Your work area will be computer vision, artificial intelligence, and data engineering. This is new to you? With the right mindset we will be there to make you grow and become the Manufacturing Technology Leader. A pipeline will be established to develop both your leadership and technical competencies.

In your role, the main responsibility lies in developing and implementing key technologies to support changes in the Plant (data digitalization as example). Therefore, you will be testing and creating solutions related to new technology, in a production environment.

Who are you?

You are engaged, curious, and eager to connect technology with real life in production. You like data analysis, electronics and if you cannot already write some lines of code – you will learn it!
You are at the same time open minded and pragmatic. Teamwork with peers and colleagues is your fuel for an exciting journey to connect Technologies in a production environment.
You are motivated by constantly developing yourself and your environment. You enjoy having several tasks in progress at the same time where you can act quickly, and you also participate in long-term projects.
You have a passion for developing people, operations and product and are a communicative team player that values the full diversity of the team.

Required knowledge/experience:
  • A BSc or MSc in engineering science.
  • Maximum two years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.
  • In this truly global program, communication will be both in French and in English, hence you need to be fluent in both French and English (speaking and writing).
  • Valid work permit for the applied country if not a citizen.
