PhD Research Scholar - Embedded ECU Dual ECU Emulator

About this program:

Objective: To apply rich knowledge and research mindset and empower them to build rewarding and satisfying careers in the fields of transport and infrastructure.
Structure: Paid program of nine-month duration
Eligibility: PhD Scholars registered with any university in India or abroad in a relevant academic discipline, currently employed or doing projects in specifically identified areas (Currently pursuing PhD).

Embedded ECU Dual ECU Emulator:


Software verification would give us an advantage over rig hardware because virtual rigs are easy to implement. Virtual rigs can be quickly scaled and maintained compared to HW rigs, which are more challenging to scale and maintain. Early integration on real hardware before implementing the target is an advantage of SW verification. Emulators and emulation will test the design with the actual input data in a simulated environment. Emulation refers to the ability to replicate the behavior of a program on another computer.
Using virtual machines, the emulator will enable us to run any operating system or program on the current platform.


Simplification of the verification of AUTOSAR based ECU software applications during the course of development (both HW and SW), because the desired hardware is frequently a limited resource by nature, and sometimes it is even being developed at the same time, a lack of proper testing creates a risky situation.


The proposed solution is developing a verification platform based on Virtual Machine (VM) that runs AUTOSAR based applications on top of a Linux distribution, which will help in decreasing the risks and costs of producing new ECU software by invoking the target hardware board for testing only at the end of the process.

Goal of the thesis

Emulation of dual CPU (Vehicle CPU (VCPU) along with application CPU (ACPU)) for TGW3 (Telematics Gateway 3) to speed up the SW verification. It should be able to run and be tested in a virtual environment. The proposed solution to build a platform that allows AUTOSAR application running in a Linux OS environment..
