Body Shop Diesel Technician

Body Shop Diesel Technicians work in the repair and maintenance of coaches/ buses. Responsibilities may include troubleshooting, autobody repair, and independently completing major repair projects.

Core Responsibilities: Body Shop Diesel Technician
  • Perform welding, soldering, body alignment, and frame/ body repairs
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders
  • Perform all body repairs according to estimate
  • Complete documentation thoroughly and timely
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Mix all chemicals according to manufacturer specifications
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical, other equipment, and trim to gain access to damaged area of vehicle as needed
  • Mend damaged body by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensure all gaps and fits are to industry standards; remove damaged fenders, panels, and grills; and bolts or welds replacement parts in position and reassemble after parts are painted
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g. welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.)
  • Comply with the quality and safety standards of the organization
  • Mix all chemicals according to manufacturer specifications
  • Have the ability to follow Prevost Processes
Body Shop Diesel Technician - Knowledge, Skills & Ability:
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
  • Ability to look up parts efficiently and independently
Body Shop Diesel Technician - Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent or graduation from a certified technical school
  • Maintain all requirements for technician
  • 4 years of qualified mechanical experience substituting one year of related technical training for a year of experience
  • Proactively acquire and expand knowledge of the latest technology and systems in the industry
Body Shop Diesel Technician - Minimum Requirements:
  • Possess comprehensive set of tools required to perform function of a technician
  • Ability to read and write
Body Shop Diesel Technician - Physical Demands:
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Exposure to local weather variances, however work is generally inside
  • Lifting heavy objects
