Mechatronics Cooling System Software & Controls Engineer

Powertrain Installation is responsible for the integration of the powertrain into the Chassis for Volvo & Mack trucks developed for North America. This includes the complete cooling system, coolant lines, and air intake for Diesel and Electric Powertrains


What You Will be Doing
We are creating a new position as a Mechatronics Cooling System and Controls Engineer that will be working with Diesel, BEV, and future powertrains related to the calibration and controls to ensure the cooling system is optimized and provides the best performance for the product and ultimately the customer. This person will get an opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art research and development environment dedicated to providing quality transportation products to the North American market. Highlights of this position includes working with Cooling Component Design Engineers, 1D Simulation Analyst, and Software Engineers to determine and verify the optimum control strategy. This strategy will then be validated and documents for production use. The position will also include any field issues Also, responsible for factory issues and quality improvements needed for aftermarket once the development is completed

You will be responsible for:
  • Developing and owning cooling control strategies
  • Interacting with Global Team to implement Strategies
  • Solving problems and determining best methods to validate designs
  • Documenting best practices and create know-how manuals
  • Managing multiple tasks using analytical and critical thinking skills


What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a talented and customer focused individual that can effectively communicate with other component stakeholders across the whole organization to ensure that the cooling system controls is performing at the optimum level to balance cooling requirements vs energy consumption.
The selected candidate will be expected to provide professional expertise as an engineer in Powertrain Installation, be able to support group and project’s needs, and be able to go out into the field to calibrate and troubleshoot cooling performance concerns
  • Bachelor’s Engineering Degree required
  • 3-5+ years working with control systems (Cooling Systems Ideal)

Professional Skill:
  • CAD
  • Process and Controls
  • Development of Technical Requirements
  • Visio
  • CANalyzer (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of how cooling circuits function with Diesel and/or Electric vehicles
  • Troubleshooting
