Design Engineer Electrical

Volvo Group Australia has an opening for a Design Engineer Electrical to join the professional collegial team at Group Truck Technology.

This role will be offered as a full-time, contract based position. You will work closely with the Engineering Team Leader Electrical to ensure project schedules are maintained.

Although this role is a contractor based position, current Volvo project- and product portfolio and associated workload for coming years, expects a long term involvement.

This role will see you develop and implement complex electrical engineering projects using several software systems.

About the role:
  • Develop and complete complex electrical engineering tasks in support of areas such as projects, factory issues, quality improvements and customer adaptions
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding technical requirements for adaptation and installation and ensure a common and agreed target is maintained
  • Work in a cross functional team to gather various demands during the design process
  • Agile way of working and planning activities during design process
  • Regular follow up and reporting of task progress
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure QDCF
  • Ensure design meets all relevant standards, regulations and guidelines
  • Create design release documentation in the Product Documentation Systems
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge
  • Contribute to the complete life cycle of electronic components and systems throughout the different stages
  • Design component or system with maximized commonality between all vehicle models while ensuring quality, cost effectiveness and distinct functionality as required by the brands
  • Subject to software, parameters and communication protocols in vehicle systems
  • Implement manufacturing and aftermarket friendly solutions while ensuring customer satisfaction.
About you:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of give (5) years experience in Vehicle Engineering or an equivalent field of Electronics systems
  • Extensive previous work experience in developing electrical engineering projects
  • Training in and understanding of FMEA principles
  • Sound knowledge of engineering systems
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize
  • Team player with a good work ethic and a flexible approach to work commitments.
  • Experience with CAD software (Saber, Creo) is desirable
  • Experience with JIRA software is desirable
  • Intermediate user of Office 365 tools like Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word and Excel with the ability to learn new systems quickly
