Engineering Project Manager – Medium Duty Cabins

The Technology organization within the European Medium Duty Business Unit is in charge of the product evolutions for the Medium Duty/ Medium Heavy-Duty trucks sold by Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks in Europe and on International markets,

Your Mission

We are looking for a Cab Engineering Project Manager.

You will be part of the Medium Duty Cab Engineering team established in Lyon. A dynamic team on a human scale which has the responsibility of the development of the Medium Duty Cabin. The scope of the team goes from the Cab structure (Body in White), through the Cab Interior (cockpit and living area) up to the Cab Exteriors.

Your mission will be to lead cross-functionally major product evolution for the Renault & Volvo Medium Duty Cab such as interior and exterior facelifts, driver interface updates, introduction of new features.

You are an experienced engineering project manager. You will be leading a cross-functional team (Purchasing, Operations, Finance, Aftermarket, Cab engineers…) and be responsible and accountable for the overall Cab deliveries.

Product quality mindset, cost awareness and speed in execution are key behaviors in our Business Unit. You will take an active role in developing future ways of working for product evolutions in a mindset of cost efficiency, delivery precision and product quality.

Who are you?

You are a team player interacting through a broad network, aware of the needed rigor to introduce quality assured product evolutions in a performing manufacturing system, but also agile in finding quick solutions to problems. You are welcoming problems and eager to find solutions for the best performance of the Business Unit and the satisfaction our customers. You are comfortable to communicate and report project status and performance in the decision fora. You have a recent experience in handling the main time plan in vehicle projects, comfortable with the planning tools and able to adapt plans in a changing environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering and the cross-functional team with a complete business focus.
  • Prioritize, balance product changes centered on Cab area
  • Prepare Concepts/QDCF keeping informed the steering committees
  • Execute & arbitrate in autonomy: Drive cross functional work with limited reporting. Take actions to solve deviations in front of your project delivery milestones when needed.
Your qualification and profile.
  • Successful project management experiences.
  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills
  • Proven communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Business Insight
  • Fluent in French and English, verbally and in writing
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification is a plus.
