Position Title: Shop Foreman

Reports To: Service Manager

Job Summary and Purpose: This position will be responsible to assist the Service Department leadership in coordinating, developing, and managing assigned department personnel, assist with processes and procedures to ensure quality controls are achieved, departmental targets are met, and customer satisfaction is maintained. This position will Champion a “Safety First”, “Customer Focused” and a continuous improvement culture at VCES.

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities:
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all VCES applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, standards, and values.
  • Make sure the service department maintains a high level of customer satisfaction through good communication and quality workmanship.
  • In conjunction with the Service Manager, coordinate the work schedule of shop and/or field personnel.
  • Prepare estimates for work in shop.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of equipment systems including hydraulic, air, electrical and lubrication.
  • Consistently follows through on all job facets including parts ordering and warranty claims, customer follow-up, etc.
  • Oversee and ensure repairs and performed in a correct and efficient manner.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices.
  • Oversee service and repair work performed in the shop.
  • Oversee training and safety, as needed.
  • As instructed, triage and task repairs according to the skills and abilities of the technicians available.
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are properly utilized and maintained.
  • Assist with repairs in shop as needed.
  • Able to work overtime when needed to complete an assigned task and is flexible to any assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:
  • Five to six years of experience in service, maintenance, or related field
  • High School diploma or GED – Some college experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations including OSHA and applicable safety regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license
Additional Important Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Focused problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Some local travel required.
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, access confined spaces, and crawl.
  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Require frequent walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching

For this position, the hourly rate is set at $37.00 - $45.00, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
