Sourcing Powertrain and Vendors handles systems and components unique for the engines and transmissions designed and produced within Volvo Group Trucks - including the axle program.
Sourcing Powertrain & Vendors is divided in four departments:
Engine Combustion & Electronics Sourcing department is responsible for strategy and sourcing of the engine combustion including fuel Injection equipment, air management, exhaust after treatment.
Base engine, Auxiliaries & Hybrids:
The Base Engine Sourcing department is responsible for strategy and sourcing of engine structure components and components for fluid management as well as moving parts like pistons, valves, gears and shafts.
The hybrids components are: energy storage system (battery), electrical motor, electrical motor drive and junction box.
Transmissions, Axles, Hubs & Bearings:
The Axle department is responsible for strategy and sourcing of complete axles, both driven and non-driven, as well as propeller shaft, transfer case and axle components such as drive heads, housings, axle shaft, hubs and bearings.
Transmission and Hybrids department is responsible for strategy and sourcing of transmission components like clutch, clutch actuators, manual and electronic gear shifting systems, gears set, synchronizers, PTO and retarders.
Vendor Engines & Transmissions:
Vendor Engines & Transmissions department is responsible to drive and optimize Vendor engines & transmissions solutions supporting the profitable growth of the Volvo Group such as alternative fuels solutions, new markets and new product solutions.
