Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Work collaboratively with design, prototype & testing , production operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Warehouse, Maintenance and other cross functional teams as the expert to ensure production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality parts; Creates an efficient “low- to mid-volume” manufacturing assembly line, specifying and/or refining BOMs, routing, work flows and detailed work instructions; This includes developing the process flow, and manufacturing process instructions (MPIs), including test procedures; Provides product and process DFx (Manufacturing, Assembly) input to Product Development Engineering to enhance manufacturability and product cost; Participate/Lead prototype builds on the assembly lines - act as a liaison between manufacturing and design; Takes ownership of new products during pilot production phase through successful and sustained project launch. This includes driving new product introduction schedules, resolving manufacturability issues, and driving improvements for cost and efficiency; Support short and long plan industrial plan to achieve flexible and efficient capacity solutions; Leads/participates in continuous improvement initiatives focused on problem solving, process optimization, material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, and streamlining of supply chain; Provide plant layouts, process flow layouts and value stream maps to improve productivity and provide for future requirements; Develop and implement long range planning to determine future production and personnel requirements; This includes future capital equipment and replacement capital equipment requirements; Select optimum capital equipment as appropriate; then justify and oversee purchase, installation, and start-up; Engineering Change Notice (ECN) - Identify, coordinate, and implement any engineering changes on the production floor; Utilize the ECN system to document and communicate defined engineering changes; Implement and maintain Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics for production lines; Design or provide input to design tooling fixtures and semi-automated systems to aid in manufacturing at lowest cost and shortest cycle time; and Continuously assess process capabilities and innovate to simplify processes, reduce cost, and shorten cycle time.

Requirements - Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or four years of experience in manufacturing processes in a heavy equipment industry. Special skills - Four years of experience as a manufacturing engineer supporting products with significant mechanical content and taking products from concept through to mass production; Two years of experience in NPD (New Product Development) or/and working on at least two NPD projects from start to finish; and Two years of experience in sustaining existing production/assembly lines, implementing lean manufacturing principles, line balancing, preparing work instructions, standardized work, testing procedures, reducing cycle time & costs and improving labor efficiency.
