The Chassis team is part of the EMD BU established in Lyon.
What does the group do?
The main mission for the group is to manage all Chassis product evolutions for the EMD BU.
The Chassis team technical scope is wide and challenging: Chassis structure, Equipment and Transport Adaptation, Powertrain Installation, Suspension Axle and Steering, Breaking System and Vehicle Control System.
What do you do?
As a Project Manager in charge of vehicle product evolutions for the European Medium Duty Business Unit, you will be a key player in a new entity dedicated to Medium Duty Trucks.
You will work as a commodity Project Manager for the biggest product changes and/or Chief Project Manager for mono-commodity product modifications.
As such, you will lead an engineering & cross-functional team to deliver vehicle product evolutions.
You will work in close cooperation with a variety of stakeholders and solution providers inside the EMD BU Technology and Operation teams, as well as partners such as the Volvo Group Truck Technology engineering teams, the Volvo Group Truck Purchasing teams or suppliers.
Product quality mindset, cost awareness and speed in execution will be key behaviors in this new Business Unit and as the project Manager for Vehicle product evolutions, you will foster them in your leadership.
Main responsibilities as Project Manager :
- Lead the engineering and the cross-functional team with a complete business focus and mindset.
- Take actions to solve deviations in front of your project delivery milestones when needed.
- Take an active role in developing future ways of working for product evolutions in the business unit mindset of cost efficiency, delivery precision and product quality.
You are a team player interacting through a broad network, aware of the needed rigor to introduce quality assured product evolutions in a performing manufacturing system, but also agile in finding quick solutions to problems. You are welcoming problems and eager to find solutions for the best performance of the Business Unit and the satisfaction of the truck customers. You are comfortable to communicate and report project status and performance in the decision fora. You have a recent experience in handling the main time plan in vehicle product projects, comfortable with the planning tools but also able to lead the team work to get actions done or trucks delivered according to plans, and adapt plans to a changing environment.
Your qualification and profile?
- Successful project management experiences
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills
- Proven communication skills, verbally and in writing
- Business Insight
- PMP (Project Management Professionnal) Certification is a plus
- Fluent in English, verbally and in writing
